Mow lawns weekly, but consider leaving some long grass for wildlife
Continue to sow hardy annuals outdoors
Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of daffodils and spring bulbs and primroses
Deadhead bulb flowers

Gradually harden off tender plants e.g. bedding and veg by bringing them outside in the day and then putting them back inside at night
Plant out summer bedding and tender vegetables at the end of the month
Pot up tomatoes
Watch out for late frosts and protect tender plants with horticultural fleece or put in the greenhouse or cold frame
Lift and divide pond plants and add new ones
Cut back Chaenomeles (flowering quince) when all the blooms have faded
