Remove spent flowers from early flowering perennials and repeat-flowering roses to encourage production of more flowers.
Check for pests and diseases such as aphids, bay sucker, sawfly larvae, rust, black spot, scab, Clematis wilt. Treat with a suitable pesticide or fungicide if the problem is severe. Remove disease affected leaves to prevent the spread of the disease.
Cut back any remaining leaves from spring-flowering bulbs once they have started to turn yellow and die down naturally.
Feed tomatoes and peppers with a high-potassium liquid feed every 10-14 days once the fruit has set.
Plant tender veg: harden off courgettes, beans and cucumbers to plant after the last frosts.
